This really resonated with me. It's a hard lesson to learn, but once you do, boyo is it so much easier to see how it's truth. To see how much deeper and brighter the world can be when you stop focusing on what you may or may not earn, but on what you can learn just by doing and trying and putting it all out there.

The word "brighter" caught me — not bigger, not more successful, but brighter.

There's something in that choice that feels like it came from actual experience rather than theory. The shift from earning to learning sounds simple when you write it, but in practice it asks you to let go of a certain kind of control over how things look. I've found it costs more than it sounds. Once you do find your way to that wider place though, going back to the narrower version of things starts to feel genuinely impossible.

What was the first thing you let yourself just try, without needing it to go well?
